Background: Established in 1963, the Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan and Regional Planning Commission (SIMAPC) is an advisory organization serving local governments in Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington Counties. The Commission plans, coordinates, and administers intergovernmental agreements on land use, economic development, water supply and sewage disposal, transportation, governmental and social services, and improvement of environmental quality in the aforementioned counties.
The Position: The Office Administrator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our office. This dynamic position involves managing a wide range of administrative and clerical duties, from handling correspondence and scheduling meetings to maintaining office supplies and supporting financial tasks. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and adept at multitasking, with a strong ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and collaboratively. By fostering an efficient and welcoming office environment, the Office Administrator contributes significantly to the overall productivity and success of the company. This position may require some travel to and from meetings.
Qualifications: The qualified individual filling this position will have a high school degree or equivalent and/or an Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. The Office Administrator should be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and office management software. A successful candidate will have excellent time management skills and an ability to multi-task and prioritize work with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Key attributes include, but are not limited to, professional demeanor and appearance, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
Compensation: Competitive salary based upon experience.
The position includes alternative benefits including: paid holidays; vacation and personal days; sick leave; along with mileage reimbursement for approved travel. Office equipment will be provided by the commission.
